McCleskey Attorneys Provide Aid to Hurricane Harvey Victims

Two McCleskey Law Firm attorneys helped with Hurricane Harvey relief in different ways – Dustin Burrows with a chainsaw, Ann Stegall raising money.

Burrows, also a Texas State Representative (House District 83), received a call from fellow Representative Drew Springer (House District 68) after finding out the Texas A&M Forest Service needed help in Rockport.

Representative Drew Springer is on the far left, and Dustin Burrows is second from the right.

Burrows and Springer joined others helping the Forest Service for a couple of days recently, driving into Rockport in the morning from where they were staying about an hour away.

“We certainly wanted to do something,” said Burrows.

Downed trees were blocking roads, fire hydrants and driveways and the state representatives used chainsaws to clear the way.

“We cut a lot and did a lot of hauling,” said Burrows.

Stegall, a board member of the American Red Cross serving the South Plains, helped collect donations at the South Plains Mall.

Two local Red Cross members also went to Dallas and Houston to help with hurricane recovery.

“I’ve always been a contributor to the Red Cross. People think about them when there’s a big natural disaster, but may forget about the work they do on the ground every day here in Lubbock,” she said. “They do a lot locally when someone’s life has been devastated by fire or storms and they need a place to sleep and clothes.”

Stegall said after the quake in Haiti a few years ago she became even more aware of what the organization does.
